Town and Country Fence

Frequently Asked Questions

58 Years of Specializing in Residential and Commercial Fencing. Proudly Serving King & Snohomish Counties Since 1965 a question or two has come up. Here are the questions we hear the most frequently asked

How long will my new fence last?

Typically, traditional cedar wood posts can last up to twenty years, and the fence boards will start to weather within that period. With our oversized posts, you can add a significant amount of life to your fence. Extreme weather such as a strong storm can shorten the life of any wood fence.

Our chain link fences are guaranteed for 10 years; however, we’ve never replaced one over the 50+ years we’ve been in business.

We proudly offer guarantees on our products and services:

Residential cedar fencing – 1 year
Pipe base posts – 5 years
Residential galvanized chain link fencing – 5 years
Residential powder coated and vinyl chain link fencing – 5 years
All commercial fencing – 2 years

Do you install fencing year round?

Yes, Town and Country Fence can safely and professionally install your new fence—rain or shine. Our priority is to make sure your fence is installed right the first time, which is how we can offer 5 to 10 year guarantees on our products and installation.

Do you have a payment plan?

We bill our customers upon completion of the project to ensure their expectations were satisfied. No deposits are required. As a company, we do not offer financing yet.

What is the most popular style of cedar fence?

The modified panel is probably our most popular fence, as it adds a refined look. The top 2″ x 4″ cap on top and a fascia board give a finished appearance to the fence and provide protection to the boards. Visit our fence style gallery to see the modified panel and other fence styles available.

Should my fence face in or out?

In most areas, it’s okay to do either. Many people today prefer to put the finish side towards the inside of the yard and the finished returns with the gates and panels facing the street.

Check with your homeowners associations. Our representatives will be happy to help you determine what will be best and how to face your fence optimally.

What happens to our existing fence?

We offer the option to tear out and haul away your existing fence, and recycle the material for you.

How soon can we have our new fence?

Once your job is scheduled, we can typically install your fence within one week—start to finish. Our scheduling times can vary seasonally and warmer months tend to have longer scheduling lead times. We make every effort to accommodate your schedules as best we can, so let us know if you have an important deadline you are trying to meet.

What is the process of installing a new fence?

First, an estimator will meet you onsite to discuss your fence needs, share ideas and fence styles, and provide you with a detailed estimate for your review.

This meeting will help us determine what your individual needs are for your new fence: privacy, security, pets, children, garden accents, etc. in order to provide you with a fence solution tailored to your individual needs.

All of our fence estimators are experienced former or existing fence installers, so they will be able to advise you on all areas of proper fence installation for your property.

Scheduling is usually three days to one week prior to installation. Prior to scheduling, we contact Underground Utilities to locate and mark your underground gas and phone lines. Next, our installers will set your fence posts and leave time for the posts to cure correctly. Crews return to finish the project in approximately three business days. Finishing typically takes three business days.

Do you require a deposit?

No! Its what makes us special. We do not require any deposits. We invoice by mail upon completion of the work after our customers have inspected the final product.

Do you do decks or retaining walls?

We do not currently provide deck or retaining wall installation.

Why do you use cedar for wood fences?

As an outdoor lumber, cedar has proven itself to last the longest in outdoor environments. We also offer pre-stained cedar, which can further extend the appearance of your fence.

We only use pre-stained cedar as it’s a higher quality wood. Prestaining provides a U.V. protectant and prevents your boards from turning gray.

Prestained wood is also a very cost efficient way to stain a fence without the usual mess and damage to planting areas that comes with a traditional stain application.

Will someone visit my home and help me choose an appropriate fence style?

Yes, our knowledgeable estimators will bring a wealth of experience to each job and can help recommend fence styles, their benefits, and determine your particular fence requirements (security, privacy, aesthetics, ground/grade considerations, children and pet considerations, neighborhood and architectural considerations). None of our team is commission based. Your satisfaction in our knowledge and service is our priority.

How should I treat my fence?

You can let your fence patina naturally or you have the option to stain/paint to achieve your desired look. We also offer pre-stained cedar for your new fence.

What type of posts do you use?

We use full 4″ treated 9′ posts (one foot longer than what is traditionally offered) which provides a deeper set and therefore more fence strength and stability. We set our posts in concrete to add additional strength. We also offer a pipe base option.
